Solving Challenges to Horses and Horse People

Rio1

Every year, thousands of equines are abandoned or impounded because they do not fit their owners’ expectations or abilities.  Thousands of people are injured or killed each year in accidents with horses because they simply do not have the necessary skills or because the animals have not been properly educated.

People seeking to improve their skills or their horses’ education find a perplexing number of experts in horsemanship promoting vastly different approaches.  Not only is there a confusion of inconsistent information, but strident disputes can arise over which approaches are “best,” often leaving the best interests of the horse out of the argument.

HDI addresses these two problems.

HDI believes that horses tell us how effectively we are working with them.  Using video and systematic observation, HDI documents what horses have to say about various methods of handling and education.  When the horses tell us that we are helping them understand what is expected and are leaving them relaxed and comfortable, we know our horsemanship is on the right track.  Through

lessons, clinics and materials, HDI passes on what it learns from the horse.

HDI will use the best practices it develops to rehabilitate and re-educate unwanted, neglected, abused or simply under-educated horses.  Horse owners, rehabilitation center volunteers and horse adopters will receive significant training in best horsemanship practices taught by the horse and captured and documented by HDI.

HDI helps horses and people better understand each other.
